Thanks to the European Route of Historic Theatres we have the opportunity to visit important theaters of eleven different routes from the Black Sea, to the Nordic countries.
- Starting from Portugal, Spain, France and other countries of Europe we are trying to combine countries of Europe in one big tourist route, which focuse on theaters - says Monika Żytkowiak, coordinator of the Baltic Route of European Route of Historic Theatres. which is coordinated by the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute. - we want to encourage people to know the various countries and cities through their theaters.
Expert says that thanks to these buildings we can learn the history of the countries, because these theatres were witnesses od important events eg. in the National Theatre in Riga in November 18, 1918 was passed the Declaration of Independence Latvian state.
- Thanks to the EU we are able to organize these routes and have meetings among experts and tour operators. These money allow us to function in our project. I think that without them it would be much more difficult - adds Monika Żytkowiak.
